Slide 1

In late February, mature wild paddlefish are collected from flooded tributaries by Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries biologists. Wild stock is used because paddlefish are river inhabitants and can not be kept in hatchery ponds for long periods of time.

Several Native Fish teachers come and help collect the fish that will be used in artificial propagation at the fish hatchery.
