Hello SAME members,
I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer and are ready for the
busy fall ahead.
The national conference in Savannah was a blast! If you were
unable to attend, we would love to share some highlights with
you at the annual meeting, as well as in the newsletter coming
out soon. The Riverfront hotel was a perfect coastal setting for
networking with hundreds of other marine educators from all over
the country, and then some. This conference provided a multitude
of sessions that offered a variety of marine topics. The plenary
sessions exposed us to the local culture and coastal habitats.
The field trips gave us first-hand knowledge of the natural beauty
of the low country. I came away rejuvenated with many fresh ideas
and lessons to teach to my students. Great job to the Georgia
Association of Marine Educators (GAME) team that put it all together!
Just a reminder that our SAME annual conference will be November
14-16, 2008 at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. This conference is
sponsored by COSEE:CGOM. The topics to be presented are Ocean
Observing Systems and Apex Predators. An agenda will be posted
soon. Be sure to contact me if you have any questions. Directions
to the Sea Lab are on the website: www.disl.org/loc_fac
Have a fun fall! Hope to see you soon.
